Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker who loves the variety of frontline practice but wants a supportive, well-established team environment?

Durham County Council is looking for a skilled professional to step into our Families First team covering the beautiful areas of Crook and Barnard Castle. This is a rewarding maternity cover contract where you can hit the ground running, make an immediate impact, and work within a framework that genuinely puts families first.

As an integral part of the team, you will manage a varied caseload, providing high-quality support to children and families when they need it most:

• Managing cases across Children in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) frameworks.

• Supporting Children in Our Care (CIC) to ensure they have safe, stable, and thriving futures.

• Navigating both Public and Private Law proceedings, including executing robust Public Law Outline (PLO) processes with confidence.

• A qualified, Social Work England-registered Social Worker.

• Proven, post-qualified experience within statutory Children's Services (specifically CIN, CP, and Court work).

• A confident practitioner who understands PLO and legal proceedings and can advocate fiercely for a child's best interests.

• A team player who can seamlessly step into a supportive environment and build quick, meaningful relationships with families.
